Keynote speaker Sarah de Lagarde will discuss the impact of healthtech at this year’s Impact Investor Conference. But before that, Sarah, a double amputee, will be attempting to climb Kilimanjaro and raise funds for STAND.
The Impact Investor team is delighted to announce that Sarah de Lagarde, global head of corporate affairs at Janus Henderson Investors, will be a keynote speaker at this year’s Impact Investor Conference, to be held in The Hague on 13 November. She will be talking about the impact of healthtech and AI’s most human side.
In September 2022, de Lagarde was involved in a devastating accident in the London Underground with life-changing consequences. Since then, she has transformed her traumatic experience into a powerful narrative of human resilience and hope.
De Lagarde, now a double amputee, will be discussing the impact of healthtech and how her AI-powered bionic arm and high-tech prosthetic leg have helped her regain her pre-accident mobility.
Her keynote will be followed by a panel discussion on impact investing in healthcare. For more information on our conference and to register, visit the event website.
Taking on Kilimanjaro
Only weeks before her accident, De Lagarde and her husband Jeremy fulfilled a dream 10 years in the making by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Less than two years later, she is about to attempt to conquer the same mountain again, alongside her husband and their two young daughters.
She is set to become the first woman with a prosthetic leg and arm to scale Kilimanjaro.
The family and their support team have partnered with STAND, a charity supporting amputees in conflict zones and developing countries, aiming to raise £25,000. If you want to support this fantastic cause, you can donate here.
“We’re not just climbing a mountain; we’re hoping to lift the spirits and change the lives of those who have lost so much,” de Lagarde said. “This climb symbolises our family’s journey, our struggles, and our triumphs. But more importantly, it’s a call to action for anyone who believes in the power of community, compassion, and change.”
